How Natural Farming Rebuilds Soil and Health
Shiv Prakrutik Farm · July 2026
Ask any farmer who has worked the same land for years, and they will tell you the truth in one line. Look after the soil, and the soil will look after everything else. Natural farming is built entirely on that idea. Here is what it means, and why it reaches all the way to your plate.
Soil is meant to be alive
Healthy soil is not just dirt. It is a living world of worms, roots, and countless tiny microbes, all working together to feed a plant. A crop draws most of what it needs from the air, the water, and the sun. The rest should come from soil that is truly alive. When the soil is healthy, it does most of the work for you.
What heavy chemical use does over time
Modern farming leans hard on synthetic fertilisers and pesticides. Around the world, farms now use about 3.7 million tonnes of pesticides every year, which is roughly double the amount used in 1990. You can see the global pesticide-use figures from the Food and Agriculture Organization for yourself. Chemical fertilisers can push fast growth for a season, but they do little for the life of the soil beneath the crop. Leaned on year after year, the ground can grow tired, and the chemicals can wash into nearby water.
Bringing the soil back to life
Natural farming works the other way around. Instead of feeding the plant with chemicals, we feed the soil with living inputs made on the farm. Jeevamrut, a simple tonic of cow dung, cow urine, jaggery, and pulse flour, wakes up the helpful microbes in the ground. Beejamrut protects young seeds. A blanket of mulch keeps the earth cool and moist and slowly feeds it as it breaks down. None of it is bought in a sack. All of it makes the soil richer the longer you farm.
Feed the soil, not the plant. Everything good follows from there.
Why this reaches your plate
Living soil grows sturdier, healthier crops, and it does it without chemicals that can leave residues on your food. It also holds water better and keeps the water around the farm clean. So a handful of healthy soil is not a small thing. It is the quiet reason the food tastes the way it does, and the reason we can hand it to your family with a clear conscience.
Come and see for yourself
We do not ask you to take any of this on faith. The proof is in the field. You are always welcome to visit, dig your fingers into the soil, and watch how your food is grown, the natural way.
